Coenzyme Q10
Coenzyme q10 is also knows as coq10, ubiquinone, and vitamin Q. Found in all your body cells, co-enzyme q10 is a compound that occurs naturally. The alternate name of co q10, ubiquinone, is derived from the word ubiquitous and means ‘being present everywhere at once’. People use coenzyme Q10 for many different reasons such as:
- Weight loss
- Gum disease
- Parkinson’s disease
- High blood pressure
- Migraines
- Diabetes
Coq10 benefits include being a natural antioxidant, which is important to the output of energy inside a cell. Some foods that are the best coq10 sources include sardines, soy oil, liver, and peanuts. To get 50 mg of coenzyme Q10 you would have to eat over five pounds of peanut butter or one and a half pounds of sardines daily so a coq10 supplement is the best way to get the optimal amount. Many people on diets find that taking a co q10 weight loss supplement, helps improve their diets efficacy and coenzyme q10 pills increase their energy level. Co q10 antioxidant qualities enhance people immune system strength. Statin drugs often used to lower a persons cholesterol level by inhibiting the enzyme responsible for determining the cholesterol formation rate. Some studies suggest that for co q10, statins interfere with the natural production of this substance. Many studies show there is a connection between co q10 and migraine headache reduction. Some people found that by taking co q10, 200mg daily, this cut their migraine frequency almost in half.
Although coq10 side effects are few, people with diabetes should not use this as it could lower their blood sugar levels and people with cancer, kidney failure, or heart disease should consult their physicians first. In addition, they have not established the safety of coenzyme Q10 in nursing or pregnant women or children.
Some overall study results of coenzyme Q10 supplements showed a steady, ongoing improvement in heart function of patients with heart problems and reduced symptoms such as difficulty breathing, heart palpitations, chest pains, and fatigue. Patients with long term or established heart conditions did show some gradual improvement but not normal heart function unlike many patients with newer cases.
For people on a balanced diet but fail to lose any weight, are over thirty, or lack energy when working out, often a lack of coenzyme Q10 is the problem. Taking a coQ10 supplement in tablet or gel capsule form could be the answer.
