Green Tea
Green tea has long been used in Asian countries, with Japanese green tea being the most well known variety in most countries. Green tea has very strong antioxidants that help to rid the body of free radical cells, leading to overall better health, less illness, and stronger immunity and body defenses. The benefits of green tea are well researched although there continues to be medical information that adds to the already lengthy list of what this tea can do for us. One of the green tea benefits that is currently being studies is the use of green tea and CLL. CLL or Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia, is a very serious and potentially deadly form of cancer that is showing promising results with treatment with green tea supplements or green tea extract.
In addition, green tea is currently being used in many diet supplements. The health benefits of green tea and using green tea as a fat burner is not as well documented in clinical studies, but anecdotal reporting is very positive. The benefits of using green tea for dieting include:
- Immune system improvement
- Decrease in appetite
- Simulation of the metabolic system
A green tea diet may include either green tea in supplement or capsule form, in extracts, or in actual the form of the actual tea leaf. Green tea and weight loss with just the tea leaf form will be more difficult to achieve results as the quantity of green tea that would need to be consumed would be very difficult to drink consistently. The green tea diet that most weight conscious individuals use is a combination of green tea with other herbs such as hoodia for appetite control and other natural ingredients for additional nutritional benefits.
There is also research that indicates that regular consumption of green tea may help to regulate blood sugars, resulting in fewer cravings and carbohydrate slumps during the day. The other health benefits of green tea include fighting fatigue and substituting high caffeine products such as sodas and coffee for the lower caffeine level green tea drinks. This change can mean better sleeping habits, less nervousness and anxiety related to caffeine intake and better overall health.
Popular commercially produced drinks that contain green tea include Arizona green tea and Lipton green tea. These are not weight loss products, but do provide the same health benefits of traditional green tea.
